Has anyone here being a victim of livestock theft? It seems to be a growing problem especially around the border counties.

Mentioned it in farming chitchat that the father was pulled over late the other night after collecting a load of weanlings.
He was about 20 miles from were we loaded them and the guard knew were we picked them up and who owned the farm.
So people are more and more aware of it happening. We were obviously reported but fair play to the cops, they made an effort to find the jeep and pull it in.

Heard two outfarms in south Tipp had cow mats taken up and stolen out of the sheds during the week.

A lad near me had 10 or 12 finished cattle stole from a field a couple of months back. the thieves had been mealing the cattle for a few days to let the cattle get used to them.

Early this year probably March/April, I heard of a man who lost 5 suck calves out of his shed, which was a distance from his house. The calves weren't tagged so were perfect to be lifted.
