I see this exchange is only rated to 7.6Mb (and who knows what contention). Is there any plans to upgrade this exchange? I am coming from 50Mb (I telecommute) and am depressed at the thought of ~8Mb.

How do eircom decide what exchanges to upgrade?

Hi Tracey, Im on the Corofin exchange ( I think), next to Tourloughmore and the most I can get is 1.3mb. Its .8mb atm.
Was told its because I'm so far from the exchange.
Can I pm you my details?

    Hi yfaykya,

Apologies for the delay in getting back to you.

I sent on your query to see if there was any indication as to if or when efibre may be available in your area also to check if there was any plans to upgrade to the exchange to ADSL2+ capacity.

I am afraid it is not good news on either front regarding your exchange:

    Exch. Code
    [RSU] TURLOUGHMORE AXE

There is indication as present as to when efibre may be available. Also the 8MB capacity will be the max available for the near future.

Sorry it was not better news.

    :-(

    Thanks Mark for looking.

I am leaving a house in the city where I now have **minimum** 120Mb connection (UPC) to 10 miles away where 7.6Mb is max.  And from people in the area I hear is unusable at peak times  due to congestion. Digital divide indeed.
    I used telecommute - I guess I won't be doing that anymore.

Thanks indeed Mr Rabbite and eircom.

Sorry it was not the answer you were hoping for.
