Hi, I've been out of work for over two years. I start a new job next week and just received an email asking me to bring my p45 with me.

I don't have one. Do I need to contact the tax-office to request one?

    Thanks.

You won't get a P45 from Revenue, and your one from 2 years ago wouldn't be valid even if you did have it. I would email your new employer back and tell them you don't have a P45 as you haven't worked in 2 years, and ask them for their Employer's registration number so you can ring Revenue. When you get it, phone your local PAYE district (enter your PPS number in here to get the contact details) and tell them you're starting a new employment. They will ask you for the employer's registration number and your start date, and they will issue a tax credit cert to your new employer.
