gcse equivalent

hey, I had it all planned to do my dip in the uk as an English and geography teacher and now I just find out today you need the equivalent of a c in English AND maths gcse before doing this. I looked into this and it appears that a d in higher or c in lower is the equivalent. I got a d in honours in my jc and a d in pass in my lc.

Is there anyway around this? Any advice? Or is my teaching dream over?

    Thanks

Are you saying you want to teach a subject you got a D in Ordinary level in at Leaving Cert., or is that your Maths result?

http://hiberniacollege.com/application-docs/gcse_equivalents.pdf says a GSCE equivalent is:
    Irish Republic awards:

In or after 1975, leaving certificate in English language at grade C or above (ordinary) or at grade D or above (honours)

Hi do you know how to compare the GCSE's with the LC?

Both sides keep moving the goalposts, so it's tricky. This is how the UCAS colleges allow for the LC.

    Use this page: https://www.ucas.com/ucas/tariff-calculator

Where it says 'Please select a qualification' start typing 'Leaving' and it will give you option for an older and more recent Leaving result for each grade.

You can calculate the 'tariff' you got or expect to get at LC.

Did you want to compare for Irish or UK colleges?

O6 doesn't appear to get any 'tariff'. O4 is the lowest they take.
