Help Picking a new 27" 2560x1440 Gaming Monitor Not From Korea

I've been using the Dell 2713HM for about six months. The picture quality is amazing. It has a couple of usb ports on the left, which are very handy for usb-connected headsets.

Overall I'm very pleased with it, although I don't do a lot of extremely speed sensitive gaming. I suppose you might be better off with one of the 120/140 hz monitors if that's your priority. I have to admit I'm a bit intrigued about this lightboost blur reduction trick:

    Thanks,

Am I correct the Hz is 60? on the Dell.. As it specs Say up to 75hz ... But is that at 2560 x1440 at 75Hz?

By the Lightboost, I take it as well you mean the dell?

I would be happy with the dell if it was at least 75Hz at 2560 x1440,,

    Thanks

If it were me, I'd be picking up the Dell. I love the USB 3.0 hub on the side especially.

I dont think you will get a 120hz 1440p monitor thats not korean or a bit hacky. 120hz generally needs TN, which is considered too low end by makers for a resolution like 1440p.

As somebody with a 120hz 23" and a qnix, id go with the 1440p at 60hz every time. 120hz is pleasant, but it needs such a monster machine half the time i couldnt capitalize. With vsync a lot of the time i was still stuck at 60fps, even if your at 119 fps it will drop you back. Thats my 2 cents as a non fps head anyway :)

The Dell will only do 60 Hz. At the moment, you have to pick what you want - 120 hz, or WQHD + IPS panel. Like imitation says, none of the mainstream manufacturers are making IPS panels at 120 Hz, and certainly not at WQHD resolution (2560 x 1440).

The other thing to remember is that WQHD has almost twice the pixels of regular HD, so roughly speaking it requires twice the GPU power of regular HD. Obviously, running at 120 Hz also doubles the workload compared to 60 Hz. So either 120 Hz or WQHD alone will roughly double your GPU requirements (assuming you're not CPU limited). The two of them together (if it existed) would really be a challenge - SLI gtx 780's would probably be a requirement if you wanted to run demanding games at the better quality levels. Whereas a single gtx 670 or 770 can handle pretty much anything now at 1080p.

OK, Well I think the idea or romance of 120hz is out the window, I would prefer 2650x1440 WQHD and the IPS panel if Im honest
Most of my gaming would be games like SWTOR/DragonAge/StarCraft 2/Portal 2/Skyrim etc Im not really into FPS`s that much
    but cant rule them out,

Im running Radeon HD 6870`s crossfired at the moment.. ( will upgrade next year) but as I just upgrade my pc (specs below
Im looking at a good monitor upgrade and it looks like the Dell is the clear winner? Its just a lot of cash to slap down and want to make
sure its the right monitor as it has to do me for the next 3 odd years..

    8GB-Kit G.Skill Ares PC3-12800U CL9-9-9-24
    Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - Intel/AMD
