hi im after buying an 05 tdi 105bhp golf thats remapped to 140. evreytime i rev over 3000 it gets very smokey. the car isnt burning any oil its just pure black smoke. what could be causing this ? I am after doing a full service on the car and theres no difference. also the engine management light came on before i serviced it and i plugged it into a vcds and it came up with low boost pressure and air mass meter. whats the best thing to do here ? the car drives perfectly apart from that and the turbo is definetly workng.

Black smoke is excess fuel. It sounds like the AFM sensor is "stuck" reading high - that'd explain the low boost DTC as well.

Cleaning the sensor thoroughly often does the trick, but I think you'd be better off getting it checked out by a decent mechanic.

Remapped TDI's are normally a bit Smokey, if the car has a straight pipe there will be a lot more smoke and the engine management may come on if the sensors haven't been reconnected, a straight pipe leaves the engine with less back pressure meaning it could come up as saying low boost pressure, if it has a standard exhaust it may just be a poor remap or as jimgoose says a sensor.
