I love classic rock and old stuff, but seeing as I wasn't around at the time (:p) I probably am missing out on great bands I've never even heard of!

Anybody know of any great bands from yonks ago that weren't MAD famous, but were really good?:D

You're in my Father's territory now.

The bands I can remember him playing when I was a nipper were Todd Rundgren, Steely Dan, Budgie, Steppenwolf, Emerson, Lake and Palmer, Utopia, The Faces, Santana and the obligatory Stones, Hendrix and the Beatles.

For my ten pence worth, while there is a glut of retro sounding bands around. Check out Earthless, absolutely superb.

Check out Off the Record on Radio Nova, Sunday nights at 9.

Best show on Radio bar none playing a huge range of proper music from the sixties to the present.

All of the above bands and artists will feature as will Zeppelin,Free,Skynyrd along with some more obscure stuff like The Grateful Dead, Ten Years After,Taste,Allman Brothers etc,etc.

Genuinely worth a listen.
