    Hi there

I am looking at moving out to Knocklyon but i work in the city centre (Harcourt Street). So I am just wondering what the traffic is like in the area. How are the buses 49 and 65B for getting in and out of town at rush hour. Would it take over an hour or are their decent bus lanes. I will try and cycle most of the time

    But any advice is appreciated

    Thanks.

My advice (depending on what end of Knocklyon you are moving to) would be get the 49 to Leonard's corner walk the up the South Circular Road to Harcourt Street.

Bus should take 30 - 40 mins in peak traffic. the main hold up being at the Junction of the old Rathdown Motors in Terenure.

The number 15 bus goes through Knockyon and drops you right on Harcourt St

For the 15 and 65, the main pinch points are Templeogue Village, Terenure Village & Rathmines. Terenure Village is the worst of these, you'll sit in traffic there for 10-15 minutes on a typical day, up to 30 minutes on a bad day.

Templeogue and Rathmines generally move without holding you up too much, but again on a bad day can create a lot of delay.

It does depend on where in Knocklyon you're moving to. The travel time from the southwestern edge (Woodstown) to the Northeastern edge (Lansdowne) is about 10/15 minutes in typical traffic, but on a ****ty day may be 30 minutes.

Cycling is easily the best way. The cycling time from Knocklyon to Harcourt St is 20 minutes.

The 15b also links Scholarstown/Templeroan with the city centre.
