    Hi all!
I just have a query, maybe you can help me.
I brought a car on Sept 18, but I didn't receive my VRC yet, I saw in the motortax.ie web that the Most recent Vehicle Registration Certificate issued was the day I brought but, no pepers comes to me at the moment. I was checking how long it takes, but I didn't find souch information.
So maybe you can point me out the times you had when brought your car.

    Best Regards,
    D.

    hey.

Sold my car recently. i handed over my Certificate of Ownership (stupidly) and now the car is still in my name. I'm receiving reminders to tax it and M50 tolls but i've no clue where it is or even who owns it.

I'm going to the Gardai tomorrow to take my licks. Has this happened to anyone else? I'm expecting i'll have to go in front of a judge too.

There's absolutely nothing the guards can do. You can actually be prosecuted as the onus lies with the seller and not the buyer. You will need to apply for a replacement VLC and then fill out the sellers details (assuming you know them) and send it off to the tax office.

Are you saying that OP can be prosecuted for offences (like speeding, etc) or crimes (like bank robbery, etc) which were commited in this car, just because paperwork wasn't done properly?

i fully assume i will be prosecuted.

no point in applying for replacement VLC as i don't know who the new owner is.

You shouldn't be, as you didn't commit any offences or crimes like that.

Indeed you didn't follow the correct procedure when selling the car, but I don't think this attracts any fines.
And if so - you can be prosecute for that (not following correct procedure). But not for things you didn't do.

I've read that you can be prosecuted for not following the rules, but there are no specifics mentioned.

Gardai told me to call Dept of transport tomorrow and they will take me through the process of getting the vehicle out of my name.

Tough lesson to learn but there you go.

Shannon are probably busy with all the people deciding to wait until the last day to change their particular for "car off road".
    Keep ringing Shannon to check.

Rooster_86, don't hijack other people's threads again. It's very rude the OP.
