I see a lot of people on the forum recommend the S80 for pure comfort and motorway driving. How does the V70 compare? I'd be looking at the 2.4d and around a 2003/2004 model and a budget of up to €5k.

They are pricey enough to tax so what are they like MPG wise? Any major issues to watch out for?

Currently high up on my list is the Rover 75 but not many good tourers out there so might also consider the V70. I commute 20000 miles a year, mostly motorway. I'm thinking an estate as I'm about to begin a refurb of a house so can see many trips to Ikea!

This caught my eye which seems to be the same car in two different dealers and 2 grand price difference (unless the DoneDeal ad is a typo):

I like the v70. Inside the cabin it's pretty much the same as s60/80 besides being an estate.
    Go for D5 engine.
    Mpgs above 40s.
