    Hi all.

I'm on the hunt for a handy little camcorder.

It'll be used for recording gigs and sets that we put on, so ideally something that I can have the audio directly from source, decent recording in darker rooms and the like.

Budget? I'm not sure. The cheaper the better, obviously.

I'm no camcorder expert but if you want decent low light performance your talking upper end. Best give a range of price you are willing to pay or your question is way to vague!

For recording gigs your best option is to get good audio. A crap video with brilliant audio wins out every time against awesome video with ****ty audio, especially when it comes to gigs. My advice would be to look into an external audio recorder and plug directly into the sound board. Look for a good secondhand zoom h1. As for video, depends what you do with the finished project, if your just posting on youtube anything above 720p should do the trick.
Hope this was of any use.

also don't bother with low light performance, just tape a flashlight to the camera and you should be grand
