If he is on JSA then it will be reassessed and probably go down.

If its just yourself and your husband and you are working 3 days or more then he will receive €48.80 thats using your gross of €500. Means are calculated on gross less prsi, union dues and avcs.

the social welfare system in this country penalises married people, hence i wont get married until i have a full time "secure" job but as op said it will almost certainly be cut again, cruel yes but this is corrupt ireland in 2013

Totally incorrect. Co-hab couples and same sex couples are treated in the same way as married couples for means testing purposes.

You stated that the social welfare system penalises married people I was pointing out that all couples who are co-hab or married are treated the same.

married people legally declare themselves married i.e certificate of marriage, its on record, unless i'm mistaken the majority but NOT ALL unmarried people dont declare they are married purely for financial reasons, the country s rife with that carry on,you lose out financially by being married in this country in this day and age hence marriage levels are dropping

Well unmarried people cannot declare themselves married as they arent married. But this is dragging the OP off topic.
