Having 2 forwards from the same team?

This weekend looks like the ideal opportunity to go Suarez Sturridge and another.

    But is caution advised?

I've never gone with 2 same club forwards before, but it looks like a fair few will be doing it this weekend.

Already have Sturridge, and if Rooney doesn't make it I'm considering going Suarez for Rooney.

    Anyone else considering it?

Dont think I have ever played two players in the same position. If team has a bad day, thats two players without points.

im all in on liverpool this week sturridge, suarez and moses. Sturridge or moses out next week. There are a fair few teams with 3 arsenal attacking players.

Can work out if you are having a punt for a week or two. But wouldn't be a tactic that would work every week. If the team draws a blank or wins 1-0 you'd probably kick yourself for not spreading the risk.

Its' a bit of a gamble, but given they are at home against Palace, makes it very tempting.

Would definitely be tempted to try it short term if one of my main strikers was off form or if one of them was a doubt for the weekend.

As it is I've got Sturridge, Lukaku and Giroud up front and happy enough to stick with that!

I'm giving it to a go. Suarez and Lukaku are my long term keepers, and want to get Benteke back when he's fit in hopefully 3 game weeks. In those three epweeks Liverpool play palace Newcastle and west brom. Games I expect goals in. Suarez seems to be chomping at the bit (sorry, those puns are inevitable and unintentional) and he and Sturridge seem so far to be complimenting each other, creating chances and scoring them with little midfield creativity behind them.

So for me Sturridge is my best filler till Benteke is back after an abortive flirtation with Aguero. And have 3 arsenal so would take too much reorganising to go Giroud.

Would imagine this would only ever work as a short term fix and only in limited circumstances.

Went for Drogba and Anelka a few years ago for the end of the season, worked out well for me.

if the players are good enough and have a decent run of fixtures i really don't see why not?
i never really got the obsession about "not doubling up" on defenders here or in this case strikers, if a team has a nice run of fixtures go with it, i'll probably have both RVP and Rooney for their nice run of fixtures and likewise i wouldn't advise anyone from going against suarez and sturridge for the next few weeks either.
people keep saying "if your team has an off day both your stikers lose out", but on the plus side, if your team has a ok day and scores a couple, you've probably got a scorer or two whereas if you've only 1 of the strikers you've only a 50/50 chance.
and if a team runs riot, if liverpool put 5 or 6 past palace you could be getting a huge points haul from having both.

Where did you get this from, I've never really got that impression. I regularly double up on defenders from the same club - had Mignolet and Toure for the first 5 games this year. Spotted a few others that did too and I think it can pay off well. Obviously a 90th minute goal by the opposition is particularly soul destroying.

    Good thread.

I have no problem doubling up on 2 strikers on the same team, under the correct circumstances. I did it last year until Rooney got crocked.

Having Sturridge and Suarez up front for the next few weeks is a really good strategy. I always take strikers based on their individual merits, and if my selected players happen to be from the same team, then so be it!

Every case is different, if Sturridge and Suarez are 2 of the 3 best value in their position, why not? The whole thing about needing cover from lots of teams doesn't make sense to me.

I'm using SaS for the next few weeks while I repair my defence/midfield.
Will probably get rid of Sturridge then.

There is regular discussion, comments about not doubling up on defenders on here.Id imagine If you put up a team containing two defenders from the same team most of the comments you would get would be to not double up on defenders from the same team . Your strategy for the first 5 games makes perfect sense to me. Mig and toure were the best value players in their respective positions IMO until toure got injured.Im almost certain I was arguing that point a few weeks back. I may double up on utd DDG and Vidic after the international break. Suarez and sturridge I may well go with for the next 3 weeks.

ok, my use of the word "obsession" was a bit strong, but as I think busts summed it up nicely a couple of posts above this.

Some good responses here lads :)

For what it's worth I'm gonna go with S & S, regardless of Rooneys fitness

I see no problem with using the two of them especially for this gameweek, and the games they have after I can see them scoring goals. I have 3 Arsenal players in my team (2 mid, 1 fw) and I believe it work for me!

I would rarely ever double up on defenders/goalkeeper or midfielder/striker from the one team unless it's a top six club. I do realise Southampton are delivering at the back at the minute but, as with Stoke last year, all good things come to an end and Saints run eventually will too.

That said, I'm going into this weekend with Ozil, Ramsey and Giroud from Arsenal and Sturridge and Suarez from Liverpool.

Ramsey was never in my plans but I couldn't sit back any longer. I also planned to keep Sturridge over Suarez but Suarez delivered last week and reminded me of his performances in my team last year.

Therefore I've gone with him and Sturridge for a few weeks until I decide on one.

I'll reevaluate the Arsenal situation when Walcott returns.

My problem with it in this case is Rooney and Giroud having some nice fixtures and their level of output being so high I feel it's better to have those than the 2nd Liverpool player. Suarez was .1 outside my budget which is a bit annoying but still have Sturridge.

Palace are supposedly missing their 2 first choice centre backs.

Liverpool are not to be trusted though, ever!

Liverpool (90% of possession, 500 shots on target) 0-1 Crystal Palace (goal from a set piece). It's nailed on :pac:

I did it last week, and it paid off. I'll be doing it again this week, and will probably keep doing it until (a) it becomes clear which one to keep, and (b) a better option becomes available. But they seem like a good team. Hopefully Liverpool will now up their game and play less conservatively/defensive.
