The second one must be sold by now as it is running all summer.

It's still there actually, spoke with him yesterday.

White one is there a good 12 months.

I knew these were cheap but these are really cheap no?
I giggled when I see the red one is for sale by user 'sexy john'....

    She might need a valet.

    how cool are we?

They are cheap but I guess it's not unusual for an MGB to be offered at that money, obviously condition can vary greatly. Hence, my reluctance to travel over 100 miles to see them!

'Sexy John', whilst being a nice man, didn't know what an overdrive was so I'm assuming his appraisal of such a car might be unreliable! :)

The rubber bumpers are sick tho!

Agreed! Chrome bumper conversion would be on the to-do list if I end up with the rubber bumper model!

You don't say where you are johnml. but seeing as one of these is in Tipperary and the other is in Cork it should be possible to view both on the same day.
As for the Cars, the photo's in both Ad's are very poor and you would really need close-ups of the seams along the rear wings, the scuttle panels, and the door bottoms to start with to get an idea of what they are really like.
The white one would obviously show up any rust more clearly but it could have had a recent blow of paint to hide everything.

Also 'overdrive working' shouldn't really seal the deal......90% of the time if the O/D is not kicking in it's the switch on the gear lever that's at fault.

This one might be closer to you and could possibly be in the same condition as the other two (for far less money).

    ps. or this one could be haggled down a bit, looks to be a better car than the two you linked to...i know it's hard to tell from a few photo's but the Ad just appears more 'honest' and is possibly closer to you;

Hi mgbgt1978 and many thanks for your help. I'm in Westmeath so much closer to the two you linked to. I had called the guy about the one for a grand yesterday and he said it was solid and driving perfect but it need of a respray. I find the colour of both dreadful! But I may well look at the one for 1k next week and paint it next year.

Clearly by your name you're an Mgb fan, do you still have one?

    John.

Hi. Had a couple of them ('78 & '71) up until about four years ago.
Gone back to Mini's again now. They were always my favourite :).

One piece of advice I always got from an old hand....MGB's are OK, but avoid Midget's........not wanting to upset anyone on here but he reckoned the Midget's gave more rust problems and were harder to repair properly (harder to get at certain areas).

By the way, if the MG for 1K is solid then I'd ask myself why it needs a respray ?
Personally, I'd have a look at the Citron Yellow one. It's a buyer's market, so a low offer can do no harm and the colour will grow on you.

I know of an original Midget, Canadian spec, LHD, with only 20k kms on it from new.......was unofficially for sale in Galway not long ago.

But you wouldn't get a sniff of it for 1k. A 1k Midget is bound to be a ball of work.

I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

@mgbgt1978: Thanks a mill for your input. I do like Mini's as well, I had a 1980 one about 15 years ago. I've my heart set on an MGB this time, I had one before and loved it!! :)

Don't think I could cope with the citron yellow or the mustard, so think I'll hold out for the right one to come up!!

@galwaytt: Thanks for mentioning that one. My budget is above 1k, that was just the price of one for sale at the moment. That midget does sound good though. I've never driven a Midget actually. Just ruling it out on physical appearance!! Think the MGB is a far better looking car :)

Can you really get a MG(B) for less than 2K that doesn't have gremlins and a crusty undercarriage?

I thought you'd need just a bit more to get out of rust-bucket territory.
