Commuting, no TaxSaver

I'm commuting by train, company doesn't do my ticket type (monthly).
Can I claim any tax back for commuting using public transport? (I think I was told that I could years ago as an agency worker?).

No, unless your company are willing to reimburse you then you're missing out. The Taxsaver scheme is the only way to avail of the tax/PRSI free ticket.

It might be worth you mentioning this to your employer. It is a great deal and for your employer they do not pay employer PRSI (10.75%) on the salary reduction used to buy the taxsaver ticker.
