Bought this second hand a couple of years ago from a bike shop with great plans of winter training while off the road. Went to Ballyhoura twice and went for a pint of milk down the village about 3 times since. :o Don't know much about Cube mountain bikes but I think this is a 2009 Pro model. Live in Limerick but work in Citywest. €300 or exchange for 'traditional' tourer bike - ie: upright position, not a hybrid.

What size person would it suit?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 750 ✭✭✭LeoD

I'm 5'11 and it suited me the 2 times I rode it! I couldn't find any frame measurement printed/stuck on the frame anywhere but I could measure the top tube length if you like?

edit: It probably needs a service also even though it hasn't been ridden since it was last serviced over a year ago. The bike was stored upside down for about a year so I'm not sure if that affected the suspension forks.

What do you mean by 'traditional tourer bike'? Road bike?

€300 is a pure bargain, very difficult for me to get to either Limerick or CityWest.
On the off chance you're not planning on visiting Wexford/Enniscorthy in the next month or so. If so I'd gladly pay that, if not I'm sure someone else will make a good offer / exchange.

"ie: upright position, not a hybrid."

Not sure what that means but if other deal falls through I will offer a ridgeback genisis bike (flat bar) plus €100.

An old man style bike that most people seem to cycle in places like Copenhagen. Maybe should have said traditional style city bike instead.

An upright sitting position. I don't want to be leaning forward as you would on a hybrid. I'm looking to take my 1.5 year old son on leisurely Sunday cycles.

Thanks for offer but won't be in your part of the world anytime soon unfortunately.

You'll have to ask C3PO that because I couldn't tell you. :o Rockshox Reba I think. Don't know precisely which ones.

It was serious value if a reba. Have very similar bike myself with lower spec shock and it has been bullet proof after two yesrs of use after buying 2nd

Yep it's got Rebas - bought it as a "cycle to shops/pub" bike but it's actually too good for that! Thanks Leo!

I really don't understand why you're getting so exercised about this ryan0380! You've already made your point over on the MAD forum and now you feel obliged to do the same here! Is it just that I got there before you?
I'm probably foolish to defend myself but I wouldn't like anyone to think I was trying to do anything underhand.
As I've already explained to you, in reply to the PM that you sent me, the situation is as follows - I saw the bike for sale here at what looked like a very good price (€300) - I offered "asking" for it with a view to using it as a hacker/shop/pub bike - I drove from Shankill to Citywest (and back!) and collected and paid for it - I then spent 3-4 hours stripping, cleaning and lubing - I also changed the stem for a more suitable one and put on a bottle holder. I then decided that the bike was far too good for my intended purpose and decided to sell it on. I've offered it for sale for €500 on the Epic, MAD and Adverts.ie sites. In my opinion this is a very fair price for a nice clean and extremely well specced bike and as I've already told you there is some "wriggle room"! Alternatively I'm happy to keep it and use it myself occasionally or lend it to mates who fancy trying some mountain biking!
Anyway I afraid I've already gone into "I fear he doth protest too much" territory so I'll leave it at that!

MOD VOICE: C3PO bought the bike here within the forum rules, any complaints in regards to this can be sent to me via PM, thread closed.
