Strange problem with Thunderbird and new msg notification

Fresh install of everything OS, Thunderbird etc and I've noticed a problem. Before I get the notification for new mail a line appears on my screen, didn;t know what it was originally but it's in the exact spot where I get the notification popup for thunderbird. Once the popup appears the line goes when it's gone.
