Gum Discoloration

    Hi there,

Any dentists out there with ideas as to what could be causing my gum above one of my front incisors to become discolured? it's become a darker/almost purple type of colour. There is no inflammation or bleeding with the gum and until now my dentist has always commented on the health of my teeth and gums, 35 with no fillings so far.. fact I am proud of!
There can be a very slight tingling but I think I only notice this as I am getting very worried about it...
I am out of work at the mo and have no med card or PRSI contributions for last few years so real struggle to find € for dentist but obvs don't want to neglect my front teeth..however if it's something benign that cannot be treated anyways I might just keep my money.. thx!!!

This +1, also any history of trauma, are you of african descent?, any root canals? Any pigmentation of your skin of other areas og your gums?

Thx for taking time to reply - I decided to go to dentist and she has referred me on to the dental hospital to rule out anything sinister.. naturally it's a little concerning but I'm not overly worried..to answer questions - no trauma that I can remember, caucasian, no root canals, no other pigmentation on gums.. have tried to attach a pic so hope it works. Its not huge or anything, but has been there a while and doesn't seem to be going anywhere.. thx again for replies :)

No, I am not currently pregnant or taking any hormonal contraception. Dentist asked me this also. I have 3 children, born 04, 09 and 11 but I am pretty sure this didn't start during pregnancy, I think I've had it for maybe the last 6 months max..
