Failed bios update . Don't ask. Am I right in saying that if I replace the board I'll have to reinstall windows as it sees the new board as a new computer ??

MSI warranty ?? Yea right. Not even a reply .

I have to ask. How did you do the bios update? From inside windows or the bios itself?

If you replace the board with the same board you should be fine.

Update via the bios . Went on the msi forums after and a lot of people with the same issue . Msi recommends update through windows ( windows 8 only )

What is the board ? Is there a bios chip that can be removed and replaced ?

Get a formatted FAT32 flash drive, download a copy of the correct bios and place it on the flash drive, disconnect all dvd and hard drives and try this - http://service.msicomputer.com/msi_user/TechFAQdetail.aspx?formid=3046

Oh, piece of candy. I'll try that after work . It sounds similar to something I tried already . But I will try this . I don't have a cd/DVD drive anyway so it will be handy enough . I'll plug into rear USB 2.0 for best compatibility .
