I am refitting a kitchen and had a gas/ solid ring hob which I liked. I am now considering getting an induction hob for ease of control but are they easy to keep and are they worth the extra cost?

very easy to keep, extremely efficient, and in my opinion well worth the cost. Just remember test your saucepans with a magnet - if it sticks they will work. Most Induction hobs will only heat directly under the pan that is on the ring, as long as it is at least 30% of the overall surface area, this reduced wasted energy heating the whole surface if just a small pan is used. Great for quick boiling - usually faster than a kettle, and really good at very low heat simmering.
I've played with a few at various training days and was impressed by all of them.
