In Fairview the SVJ Karate Club has quite a few parents who train with their kids. They can train together during the kids class, and then move up together to the senior class when the son is able for it.

Similar situation here, late 40s with an 11 year old daughter who enjoys a scrap. Going to try the local boxing club next week who have juniors and seniors training at the same time. No idea how it will pan out, but I'll let you know how it goes. Both mine did Karate in Renelagh for a year, but chucked it, based on too much grading and no sparring. My elder girl now does rugby which she's loving, though I could see her giving boxing a bash as well.
