    Hi Guys

I'm looking for suggestions for an engery gel belt to wear for the DCM, I'd say i'll be carrying only 3 or 4 gels, 4 to be safe.

Looking for feedback on anyone that has tried these out.

    Thanks

You can get Karrimor ones in SportsWorld for about €5, here's a link to their UK site: http://www.sportsdirect.com/karrimor-running-belt-mens-764002

I got mine last year at the dublin marathon expo. Think it was the high 5 gel stall.

Happily fit four gels into my Nike Dri Fit Shorts. There is a large enough zipped pocket in the back that is easily accessed in many shorts in that line. Just an alternative! Never used a belt myself though.

an alternative, Race Ready shorts - lots of pockets for gels and very comfy to wear. You can buy them here:

Also you can pin a gel to the outside of your shorts and then fold backwards so they sit on the inside.

I used a SPI Belt last year in the DCM and it did the job without mishap. The only (minor) downside to it was that I had to wear it over my tshirt, thus pressing my tshirt down and enhancing the shape of my belly which I'm sure was a delightful sight!:D

Since then I've bought Ronhill Cargo Shorts and have been using them on long races and LSRs in place of the shorts / belt combo. I find them great - they can comfortably carry 4 gels in the long thin pockets, they have 2 other "standard" pockets which you can put other stuff in, e.g small bag of jellies, and they also have a zip pocket at the back. Oddly enough for some reason the gels tend to slip out of the 2 specially designed gel loops! But all the other pockets should be enough for your needs.

SPI Belts are available in Amphibian King (or they were last year - check to be sure). Not sure if / where you can get The Ronhill shorts in Ireland - I got mine at the DCM Expo last year - a bit late to wear them for the first time in the race. You can get them on Wiggle:
