Just moved house -inconsistent Saorview signal

I've just moved house & we set up our TV & Saorview box which we use with digital rabbit ears (same set up worked perfectly in old house), and we got a decent signal after a bit of messing around. Anyway, next day turned it on & got no signal - had to do a completely retune & reposition everything to get a decent signal. And then that evening, same thing again!

Every time we turn it on, we seem to have issues with the signal - in our old house we just tuned it in once & left it alone. Any ideas on what to do?

Also, there is a Sky dish on the back of the house & we found a Sky box in a wardrode but no remote. We tried plugging in the Sky box, lights came on it but nothing on the screen - any advice on how to set this up?? I'm presuming we can get all the free to air channels with it & we can buy a replacement remote if its worth doing?

The Saorview signal appears to be too weak for the indoor aerial, you may have to install an outdoor aerial to get a stable signal. The Saorview people recommend an outdoor aerial for reception.

How are you connecting the box to the TV?

There could be a box fault, dish fault, cable fault etc. Might be worth getting a professional in to have a look and maybe install an outdoor aerial at the same time.

Thanks a mil - I was thinking that we might need an outdoor aerial alright but the signal is good just not perfect, would a signal booster work I wonder?

Might be a plan to get someone out - just after moving though so money is tight!

Don't waste money on a booster. If the signal isn't there for the aerial you can't boost it. Try putting the aerial as near a window facing towards the transmitter as possible.
