Might as well have a thread for all the movers and shakers over the next few months.

First up, and it's a big one -
@GWS_Giants: The GIANTS have withdrawn their offer to Buddy Franklin based on advice that he will accept an offer from the Swans.

Huge news, if turns out to be true. Think Hawks can wear losing him but going to Swans might leave a sour taste, especially if they meet at finals time next year.

He was fairly crap in the second season running but, even when not firing on all cylinders, he still occupies the opposition's best key defender (Johnson on Saturday for example). His presence alone would be a massive loss.

Franklin, Tippett and Goodes hitting form at the same time would be awesome to watch if they line up together.

The NINE YEAR deal for a 27-year-old is the most astounding part!
    (OK, it's ALL astounding!)

That is an insane chunk of salary cap for next 9 years.

What % can Swans put down to "marketing payments"? I know they are allowed some leeway under cap with this and Buddy could command a fairly steep payment given he is most marketable player in the league.

The whole cost of living allowance is going to get interesting as well. Given most c.o.l indexes I have seen lately have Brisbane and Perth catching up with Sydney, they must have a good case to ask for same now. Imagine the sh1t fit Melbourne clubs will have if that gets proposed :)

Eddie Betts to Carlton on a four year deal. Thought that was a bit mad until I saw that Betts is only 26. Could've sworn he was early 30s, looks it anyway.

Edit: Colin Sylvia to Freo, good pick up considering it costs nothing draft wise.

Never judge a man by the size of his shorts :D

Some big moves this winter. Delighted GWS are finally getting some older players. Mumford should make a big difference because Giles isn't quite good enough to take all of the load in the ruck. Possibly Heath Shaw headed that way too.

Exciting to see Port pick up some Irish talent also. Hopefully it develops.

Surprised that Freo are after Sylvia and Xavier Ellis. I would have thought a few key position forwards would have been the priority, not midfielders. Hopefully this doesn't mean one of our mids in on the way out.

Feel sorry for Brisbane, everybody heading back to Victoria/WA.

New man in for the Eagles, big shoes to fill.

I'm glad it's not Sumich though.

Daniel Kerr has just announced his retirement :(

Super player in his day, just a pity about all the injuries.

being honest Xavi, the way he was the last couple of years he is no real loss, and probably better off without all the hassle he brings. was a class player, but the last 3 years has been virtually a passenger. showed flashes of brilliance and potential to get back to form, but it never materialised the way it should. and off field casino incidents still keep cropping up, so as much as thanks very much to Kerr, its not a move I'm overly shocked or disappointed in. probably being too harsh in that, as he was a vital cog with Cousins and Judd, but thats a long time ago now.

Scott Watters sacked as St. Kilda coach. Over a radio appearance he didn't have permission to do. Sounds like straw that broke the camels back

sounds like an excuse to get rid to be honest. catn see the point in it. he didnt do too badly last year considering, and had a decent trade period and was set up well for a good draft for future potential.

Sounds like he wasn't too popular among the playing group. Apparently the dwarfs they hired at their Mad Monday was poking fun at Waters's short stature (following Goddard's "midget" remark earlier in the season). The subsequent 'igniting' of one of the dwarfs was reported by some as a sign of further dislike.
With Nicky Dal's departure and the talk of Riewoldt possibly walking too, maybe Waters was ultimately the 'fall guy'??

Setanta and Aisake have apparently joined Albury Tigers in the Ovens and Murray Football and Netball League for next season. Obviously keen to stay in New South Wales.
