So it appears that Tesco have made the decision to stop being 24 hour and are now open from 6am to 12 midnight.

This is thoroughly devastating news. I have spent an awful lot of early mornings in Tesco! I'm not sure how I'm going to handle my exam time breakdowns now!

Hopefully. Nothing like a trek out to McDonalds after a night out.

I remember on my only night out in Maynooth, I couldn't find anywhere to stay, so I browsed the shelves of Tesco just to pass the time. :pac:

    What , whyyyy???

I'm pissed ! Tesco being 24hrs was so handy for when you realise you need something and everywhere else was closed and when you've no time to shop during the day etc

Obvious answer is it wasn't profitable enough to stay open those hours

Realistic answer is they're all hellspawn

Sad news. The middle of the night was the best time to shop :(

...or go for a 3am cookie run when writing a paper :pac:

They still do a night pack so all the staff are there anyways and it was only ever the self serve machines you could use after 12am

Based on my research, it looks like there are no more 24hr Tescos in Ireland anymore! :-(

Ah you young'uns don't know how lucky you are! Back in the day there was Centra on Main St. and Supervalu on the Straffan Road and Spar up in Beaufield. I remember how exited I was when Aldi opened first.

    Nope.

Although it looks like Blanch might still be. Only one that I've found so far.

What about that monstrosity of a Tesco in Naas. Surely it'd cost more to close that and reopen it than to just leave it open?

    Clare Hall is 24 hour.

Nope that's 6am -12pm as well. If you go on to tesco.ie and look for opening times it shows none are 24hrs any more

Blanch seems to be when I went looking. Nothing else did though and I think I checked half the country!

    Stupid tesco

Wonder why only Blanch is staying open all night?
I'd say 24hr opening times might come back around Christmas for a while.
