Lads is there any of you well adapt at diagnosing and solving problems with shower pumps?

There is a lot of content on this and considering the thousands of apartments built over the years that have them, This thread would be a good starting point for the owners.

If you could post comon problems and solutions then perhaps Joey or koolkid could turn it into a sticky.

Hi, This isn't a reply just a cry for help!
I have a Stuart Turner 55 shower pump that runs for ten seconds or so then cuts out. If I switch it off for about 10 seconds and switch it on again it works then cuts out after about 10 seconds. Any Ideas? Temperature sensing? Flow control switch?
    Thanks

Does it only happen, when you are using the shower, or does it happen with anything else being used.
If so, does it happen on both hot and cold.

    Hi, Thanks for the reply.
The pump is only connected to a shower. Nothing else.
On switch on it works fine then cuts out after about 5-10 seconds. When switched off for about 10 seconds it works again, but only for about 5-10 seconds.
It happens on either hot or cold. It is a dual pump with a single sensor between the outlet pipes.

Its one of only a few things as they are a simple enough pump.
Lets start with the easy ones.
Take the shower head off from the hose and try it. (I am presuming its a shower hose arrangement)
If there is no change, then take the hose off or swap the hose for a different one and see if that makes a difference.

    Hi Thanks for the reply.

I soaked the hose and the inside of the pump with vinegar as our area has a lot of limescale.

The pump appears to be working fine now.
    Thanks for your help

just a quick query without starting a thread on it:

pump rating: 20 minutes on/40 minutes off versus continuous?

Hi, the shower is acting up again.

I changed the hose just in case but it still is intermittent.

Did you let the shower run with the hose only and no shower head?

Its the float switch or pcb.
    Either cheap option to replace.

    Hi K. Flyer

    Thanks for the post.

No I connected the whole lot up and it was intermittent.

I will try it without the head and let you know.

I thought with the shower functioning even for a short while that, that probably would rule out the pcb. The float switch is a probability.

    Thanks for the help.
