Just a general question regarding who everyone would like to see at any of the balls this year? Some great bands last ball season may be hard to top.

I'd say half Jim's salary for the year wouldn't cover that man

Can't tell if this is a ball organiser trying to get suggestions for bands that people would like or is just someone who is genuinely curious. My guess is the former

OP is almost definitely one of the ball organisers or cronies(Probably Commerce Soc. they seem to like themselves etc.).

There haven't really been any acts that were/are that big. I doubt if anyone mentioned the names of any of them the day before they were announce no-one would have a clue until they found out that it's yer wans with that one song that was #20 in the Irish Charts. Sigh...

I am this years arts ball organiser, an I haven't a clue who he is.
There should be a good line up this year ;)

Well in fairness the Commerce Ball is obviously the biggest and best, has always been. It's the only one I'm gonna go to anyway. Like in fairness Rudimental were amazing... Can't wait to see who they get this year.

    Obvious Commerce committee/organiser/fecker above
    1 post hahaha

(BUT, not just because I am the organiser this year) Every year for quite a few years the arts ball has been the biggest in terms of numbers
At least thats what records indicate... :/

But enough boasting, commerce do enough of that for the whole country :P

Never went to any of the Ball's apart from I worked last years Arts Ball in the Salthill Hotel, The Stunning were good craic, the bands the Biz Soc get are the bands I usually turn the radio off when they come on so no doubt they will keep to that tradition this year, with Byrno playing his usual set of tunes after each act

Can't be all bad. Rhythm Scheme is better than most of what I've heard on the charts for a while, and he's probably the best of the DJs in Galway nightclubs.

Is Rhythm Scheme not the band who play instruments over songs? Didn't think they had any songs of their own? Seen him many times over the years of living in Galway, much better Dj's of the music I like down the west! :D

They don't literally play the same same chords and drums over the recorded version, no.

Well they do something pretty similar, to say their better then most bands in the chart at the moment is a bit weird as they are just playing songs, some from the chart, with their own version of drums, guitar and bass over them! Go up to Dublin and theirs a drummer in Dicey's bar on a Wednesday night who does the same thing on his own for the whole night, at least he doesn't know what song is coming next, whereas they have picked the songs and have learned them off. Anyways it's good that everyone has their own opinion, you can stay up town watching Rhythm Scheme, and il stay down west at the Blue Note, Massimos and 110th Street, and il meet you after in Charcoal Grill! :p

You literally have no idea. Do you realise how much "big" acts cost? For the budgets of the Eng/Comm/Law balls over the last year or two they provided great acts.

In your opinion, who is a "big" act?

    Sigh...

The only other forum the OP has posted in is the "Entrepreneurial & Business Management" forum... :pac:
