Add/install a satellite for a satellite receiver

I have a Strong 4155 satellite receiver for free-to-air channels. I want to know how to update/refresh the satellite list. At the moment, there are 30ish satellites in the list, some work, others don't. Is there a function that can update this list or it is updated automatically by the box? Thanks in advance.

If your dish is a fixed one it is probably only pointing at 28.2e which is the satellite for sky and fta channels for uk and Ireland

Yes, it is fixed. I'd like to know if it is possible to add the Eutelsat 28.5E to the satellite list.

Your receiver is a number of years old so it may not find all the transponders that are now available after your box was made, there a number of ways of fixing this however I have checked strong's website http://strong.tvand your box is not listed so may no longer be supported.

So check the settings and u need to click either Astra 2 @ 28.2
and Eurobird 1 @ 28.5 if they are listed seperately...

Make sure you can for fta only and if there is a network search turn it to on...or use blind scan if that option is available..

if that doesnt find all the channels then you will have to enter each parameter one by one which is a SLOW process...you can find all the transponder settings here...

Thanks. Astra 28 is there already which I am using. But I want to download the channels on Eutelsat 28 which is not in the list(so I cannot switch to that satellite). Is there a way that I can change the satellite setting in the satellite list manually?

If I download the channels using Astra 28, I only get what are on this satellite.

Are Astra 28 and Eutelsat 28 at the same position which is available to my dish, I hope so.

When I scan 28.2e on my receiver it scans Astra 1N/2A/2B/2F/Eutelsat 28A there's no option to scan 28.5e

I might have got the parameters wrong about 28.5e (which I mean Eutelsat 28A). I only know how to scan channels on one satellite and then switch to another one. But if the satellite is not in the satellite list, I don't know how to scan.

Too many to list, BBC stuff and tons of German channels and of course God' channel:). I just cannot find Eutelsat 28A which is not in the list. The list has Eutelsat W1/2/3 which don't work.

They are, so all the Astra and Eutelsat frequencies/transponders can be on the same list. The missing frequencies/transponders must be added manually first so that they can be scanned for channels.

Dig out the manual and it should show you how to add the missing transponders/frequencies (to the existing Astra settings). Use one of these satellite lists

Most, if not all of the 'god' channels are on Eutelsat 28A. You won't be getting 'tons of German channels' unless you are also receiving from the 19 degrees east position.

Are you trying to get a particular channel from Eutelsat 28A?

I got it. Thanks. It seems that the name of the satellite is not that important so long as it is at the correct position. You can scan the transponder of another satellite if it is in the same direction and download the channels.

Correct, they are referred to as co-located satellites

Yes if they share the same orbital slot. During the lifetime of a FTA satellite receiver some of the transponder/frequencies will change, some will be switched off others will be added, this is one of the negatives of a FTA sat receiver where any changes will have to manually updated unlike a Sky or Freesat receiver where the changes are done automatically.

Thanks for the explanation. I discovered that some channels listed for Eutelsat 28 are not working for me, when I scan the transponder (put it the frequency, symbol rate for the channel), nothing happens (the signal indicator bar is very short/weak). I am a bit puzzled as I thought that all the transponders on a single satellite should be available (at the correct position facing the dish) if one of them is working.

Which frequencies/transponders are you having problems with?

Recheck all the parameters again - polarisation, diseqc settings etc. and rescan.

Even though both the Eutelsat and Astra satellites are co-located and the satellite dish sees them as a single satellite the Eutelsat satellite is located slightly to the left (28.5°E) of the Astra group of satellites (28.2°E) and if the dish is aligned slightly to the right on the Astra satellites the signal received from certain transponders on Eutelsat might be lower.
