Tactical uses for Zombies

I got all excited finding the walking dead forum that I found myself engaging in thread necromancy. Anyway I copped on to my mistake and decided to make a new thread. The thought that excited me was this

What uses are there for zombies in a battle between two living sides? They don't fight so great against battle hardened soldiers but I feel they have their uses.

They seem great to deny ground to opponents. If you have a decent couple they can take a while to take out via slow long range snipers but most other methods exposes of taking out the zombies exposes the enemy to fire from your actual army.

You could have booby traps opening a door with 5 zombies 2 feet away which might kill a few.

They can cover an escape from a raid. Plant a load down as you are running away and the defenders will be forced to protect their homes rather than give chase.

Enough of them could cover flank in battle. It can take a while to get through them allowing you to adjust your forces accordingly. There seem to be a lot of uses for the biters. No need to stick to strictly walking dead style numbers or scenarios. Any sort of or size of battle you can think of.

That'll work nicely as long as you manage to give them something to chase (presuming the enemy isn't just across it).

if you got some walkers and chop off their arms and lower mouth. you could hook them up to a cart and use them like horses. less equipment for you to hold.
if you chop off their legs and place them in a hole. if the enemy fall into the hold they'll be attacked.
they could make a decoy. chained up bitter would make a great guard dog, or let them roam around outside the walls to stop assassins.
make a very large mouse wheel to get power from the walker or walkers. they don't need to eat and don't sleep so they can just keep walking.
you could strap them onto your van to use them as body armor on your van.
let waves of them attack the other compound at night to keep them awake so they are tired when you attack.
