    Heya guys,

I'm looking for a laptop - standard home use, web surfing and streaming movies etc. I had a quick look around Harvey Normam, Curry's and PC World today but I'm hoping you can point me in the direction of a better deal. Where is a good place to buy online these days?

The one I saw today which seems best was this: http://www.currys.ie/Product/ACER-Aspire-V5471P-i3-14-Touchscreen-Laptop-Silver/318401/7.37 - Intel i3, 4gb Ram & 500gb hard drive. This would probably do me fine but if I can get better processor and ram that would be great.

I want something small and light - most of them laptops I saw are fairly hefty - and I have no need for a null numeric keypad - I'd prefer a small-ish screen of about 15" - 17" is way to big for me. I need HDMI but most of them have that anyway, but the only other thing I want - is that I'm used to Mac's where you have two finger scrolling for web pages. Not sure how I'll know if they have it but the acer above did.

Can anyone suggest any better deals than the above?
    Much appreciated - thanks
    Z.

    Anyone? no?

So I've been looking around amazon and I found this Lenovo Z580 - Intel Core i5, 8GB Ram, 1TB Hard drive, about €620. So I was dead set on this until one of the guys in the office just bought one and really it's a lot bigger and heavier than I want. I had a look around amazon and can't find much that suits my needs. Now, maybe its because I am used to my work laptop which is a Lenovo T430 - which is very small light and powerful, but its also very expensive. Am I kidding myself trying to get a relatively small and light 14" notebook for the same or less money than the Z580?

This Asus looks good: http://www.amazon.co.uk/VivoBook-S400CA-14-inch-Touchscreen-Laptop/dp/B00B2I6E5E/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1380829564&sr=1-1 - but no hdmi :(

I can't offer much advice on the laptop but whatever one you get you can download free software called Scrybe which allows multi-touch gestures, icl two-fingfered scrolling on touchpads. It has be have a synaptics driver though but I believe most laptops have this.

Hard to imagine using anything else ever, when you've been spoiled by one these, init? ;)

The Dell Vostro 3640 is not quite in the same league but still a pretty solid work laptop with a decent battery life (review). Dabs.ie is selling the Core i3 model for €562.
