Insecure / Low Confidence Issues

    Hi,

I feel very insecure on occasion. I always feel the need for people to like me and to tell me I am very nice/good looking, etc.

Any time I am out I desire the attention or more the approval of the opposite sex. And I feel disappointed when my friends sometimes get more attention than me.

I really want to feel secure and confident in myself. Can anyone offer any advice please? Or anyone experienced similar issues?

    Thanks!

There's no "quick fix" solution for insecurity and / or low confidence OP, but at least a good start is you've come to realise you can't depend on other people to make you feel better about yourself.

You haven't really given much to go on like any steps you've taken to try and resolve this issue yourself, but the biggest step to overcome is changing your attitude and your outlook on life and learning to accept that not everyone is going to like you. You can't please everybody either and there's nothing wrong with putting yourself first and being assertive.

You'll naturally begin to feel more secure and confident in yourself when you're less focussed on other people to validate you as a good person or a person they want to spend time with.

    Hi Op,

You need to work on building up your own self esteem, build up your own self worth, if you believe in yourself and love yourself enough then you will never need anyone else to validate that for you by their behaviour

I struggled with low self esteem for many years without realising that I pretty much had none, I worked on this for a long time , what helped me greatly was self help books, they are not everyones cup of tea but for me they answered a lot of questions and helped me no end. Check out any bookstore there are many options

You may find that talking with a therapist or a counsellor will help you process your issues with confidence.
