Audi A4 1.8 petrol sometimes cuts out when started hot

    Recently bought a '00 A4 1.8 petrol that I notice every now and again when I go to restart the car after having recently driven it and it's still hot that the revs just drop and she stalls. If I start it straight away again it'll be fine. Now if I go to start it when it's hot I keep an eye on the revs and if they go to drop I just tap the accelerator and she stays running.

    Any ideas? I've put in a new fuel filter and put new sparkplugs, air filter along with fresh oil/oil filter 2k miles ago.

    We had an audi years ago that was brutal for that. It wouldnt idle at all when started after doing a good run.
    I think it was an issue with the idle control valve at the time. Dont know what set up your audi has though
