I like them. Friend has a 1.8 petrol and while it had the usual head gasket failure and has its quirks, I think they are a very underrated car. I genuinely think one of the biggest issues here is that every mechanic Ive seen here tut tuts if you arrive in a 75, telling you they are trouble and worthless. Friends 05 one has been motoring away for him for 5 years now. It needed the head gasket (thats a given on that engine) and it had a fuel pressure fault but it sailed through 2 ncts since with zero needing spending and has about 150k miles on it. Fantastic ride comfort too and a nice steering weight.
The diesel version has the bmw engine which is excellent in the rover.

That low mileage 75 diesel has been on sale for an eternity, not surprising considering the ridiculous asking price.

Pre facelifted models have better build quality as facelifted models had cost cutting in mind just before Rover's demise.

There is a diesel one on dd which I can vouch for the low mileage of. It's very well specced and was immaculate when I had it up until last November. It's the spec you'll want but what I will say is I couldn't get it to break 39mpg. Having said that its condition was great. I'll link it later on as I'm on the mobile now

Here's a question...... Has this car been sitting in the dealer's forecourt for 2 years?

Look at the below review for the Rover 75 and check the date and photos

Then look at the classified on Adverts. Says NCT until November 2011

If you want any information on the 75 & ZT look up "the 75 and ZT club" fourm in the UK. They have a serious forum on the cars there with plenty on irish members as well. Anything you need to ask or know you'll find out there.
I've a ZT diesel facelift model for last 2.5 years I have clocked up over 50K miles in that time. It has been very reliable to be fair I had to do the slave cylinder on the clutch during the summer but at 110k miles on a manual diesel thats not unusal. I also replaced the a front suspension joint and a needed to replace a flexicoil part of the exhaust.
The BMW 2litre diesel is a nice drive but its not overly economical to be fair I average low to mid 40 miles per gallon on most fill but I do have a heavy right foot. If you were careful ud probably push 48-50mpg especially on longer runs. Tyres on the ZT are expensive on 18" rims and it does like to eat them. The 75 have tyre sizes from 15" up which are cheaper.
Although basically the same car the 75 & ZT are different beasts to drive with the 75 a much more refined ride. The ZT is a stiffer set up with 18" rims it can be a bit harsh on rough roads however it does stick to the road and handles corners unbelieveable for a big bus.

You would appear to be correct.
Also, looking at the photo of the passenger side of that car, the colour does not seem to match between front and rear doors.

I think you could find better ways to spend your money, the also struck me as flimsy and troublesome and impossible to offload. The ZG variants are the ultimate sheep in wolves clothing :D

I've had a 2002 R75 CDT Auto for 4 yrs, it's only needed a MAF and routine sevicing,
A manual has weak and expensive to replace clutch setup. The 1.8 has HG problems but should be ok if it's been replaced correctly, look for receipts.
I can't speak for the 2.0 ltr petrol, but the 2.5 is very thirsty and has a very expensive to replace twin timing belt system, I've heard of quotes of €1200 but they usually last about 150,000 mls.

I viewed that car at least 2 years ago. It was a taxi (or hackney) as far as I recall in its previous life and the guys weren't that interested in selling, nor me buying it once I saw it in the flesh.

It's the only car I can ever say that I had absolutely right before I got bored and sold it

    This also looks very nice
    http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201309268968486?atcide=emc-cars-EAF004

But bringing it into Ireland would probably work out in the region of €4500 once exchange rates, VRT and travel are taken into account.

    More like €5000+ I'd say.

I have had an auto diesel 75 estate for the past 13 months and 20K miles or so.
Really enjoy it, other than standard servicing I need to replace its under bonnet fuel pump at 95 K or or so, which cost about 120 euros.
For the money I don't it can't be beat the diesel and auto gearbox really work well together, I can see myself going back to all that revving and shifting mularky.
If died in the morning I'ld pick up another in the UK/north.

There are a couple of us in the 75andZTclub and we had a bit of a meet up for coffee and tyre kicking recently, which was kinda fun.
