My Dad called me today to sort something out. Fine. Tomorrow is the last day to declare a car off road without having to pay anything apparently. Apologies, I'm not sure as I'm not au-fait. Anyway, Dad has a 1980 car in garage since 1998, not taxed and not in use. And won't be in use for next 10 years.
What do I have to do tomorrow to avoid any potential penalties for him?

Go to the local police station and get it signed off the road from the date of the last tax disc until the beginning of September and bring that with the log book to you're local tax office and sign it off the road until this time next year.

Would it be sufficient to drop the documentation to the Tax office. I've heard the q's will be nuts tomorrow.

that info is not complete....you need a RF100A for arrears period and an RF150 for future period of off road . yOu don't need to take your log book

Both of which are available at you're local Garda station and tax office.

easier to print them off online and have them all filled in before you head out though

You do need the Log book number though in order to complete the RF150.
