This years county championships are entering the final stages. Performance of the day came from John Heslin who scored 2-16 as St Lomans beat Garrycastle by a point in Westmeath.
    Kerry SFC Quarter Finals
FEALE RANGERS NEEDED extra time to beat St Brendan’s in the first of today’s Kerry senior football quarter finals in Austin Stack Park.
The sides had finished normal time level after Rangers let a late two point lead slip. However, the three-time Kerry champions got the best possible start in extra time thanks to a goal from David Sheehy and went on to book their place in the final four on a 3-12 to 0-15 scoreline.
They’ll be joined in the final four by Austin Stacks who survived a second half comeback by St Kieran’s in the second game of the afternoon.
Leading 2-6 to 0-4 at the break, Stacks were outscored by nine points to six in the second period but still held on to book their place in the semi finals on a scoreline of 2-12 to 1-10
    Kildare SFC semi final
A Dermot Early cameo helped defending champions Sarsfields into the Kildare county final this afternoon.
Naas had looked to make a game of it in the early stages but were outscored by 12 points to one in the 30 minutes either side of half time and so it was the Newbridge club that ran out 0-19 to 1-10 winners.
And it will be an all Newbridge final for the fifth time this millennium as Moorefield secured a 2-9 to 0-10 win over Athy in the second semi final.
    Leitrim SFC final
St Mary’s-Kiltoghert are celebrating their first Fenagh Cup win since 2007 after a six point win over Mohill in Páirc Seán Mac Diarmada.
Michael McWeeney and Alan Doherty’s goals gave the Carrick-on-Shannon side a 2-14 to 2-08 win.
    Louth SFC Final
Newtown Blues secured their first Louth senior football title in five years thanks to a 2-15 to 0-13 win over Cooley Kickhams in Drogheda this afternoon.
Andy Mcdonnell and substitute Conor Brannigan scored the crucial goals for the Drogheda side.
    Westmeath SFC Semi-finals
Former Richmond Tigers AFL player John Heslin scored a phenomenal 2-16 of St Loman’s 2-19 total as they overcame Garrycastle in Sunday’s first Westmeath senior football semi final in Mullingar today.
It’s lucky the Westmeath star was in such sparkling form too as the Mullingar side held on for a one point victory despite Garrycastle raising the green flag five times. Final score 2-19 to 5-9.
The possibility of an all Mullingar final remains alive too as Tyrrellspass and Mullingar Shamrocks could only play out a 2-9 draw in the second semi final.
Tyrrellspass had led by 2-5 to 0-3 at half time but a stirring second half fightback from the defending champions sees them live to fight another day.
    Meath SFC semi final
Summerhill are through to play Na Fianna in the Meath senior football final after they overcame Rathkenny 0-15 to 1-7 in Páirc Tailteann this afternoon.
Donal Curtis got the goal for Rathkenny just before half time to keep them in the game but the 2011 county champions held on to book their final berth.
    Limerick SFC semi final
Monaleen will be aiming for their third Limerick senior football title in four years after beating local rivals St Patrick’s in Claughaun on Sunday afternoon.
Pats had a three point lead at half time but Monaleen fought back in the second period to win by a single point, 0-15 to 0-14
    Offaly SFC semi finals
Tullamore took advantage as Clara lost their composure in the second half – finishing with 13 men – to book their final berth with a 1-10 to 0-6 win at home this afternoon. The 2007 champions were leading by four points before Adam Shelley fired home a late goal to cement the win.
In the other semi final, a Stephen Guing goal wasn’t enough for Edenderry as defending champions Rhode secured a final spot with a 0-20 to 1-10 win.
    Wicklow SFC semi finals
Rahnew and Blessington will have to do it all over again as their semi final ended in a 0-12 draw in Aughrim this afternoon.
The winners of the replay will face Baltinglass after a Joey Kelly goal helped them to a 2-8 to 0-9 win over Blessington in the second semi final.
