Hey guys, tricky situation here. I'm after meeting a guy and have met up with him a few times. So not a lot and obviously its extremely early days. We met about three weeks ago. This is the problem. First time I met him, I liked him. Good looking, good personality. Ticked all the boxes. He got in touch again, texted and facebooked a bit. And it was all good. We're both early twenties. He got in touch one of the nights and we met up. Had a laugh, got along very well. He seemed to be interested as was I, and it was nice. talked about watching certain dvd's together that he thought I should see. I didnt sleep with him, as I just didnt want to yet. And that was grand, Im very easy going at the moment as Im only recently out of a messy relationship, so I dont like jumping head first.

anyway fast forward things got weird. After that night, he didnt contact me again. really surprised me as I thought things were going well. But I understand as well people dont always feel the same. So I let it go a few days, and decided to contact him just once, test the water and see from there. he replied, asked questions and general conversation, but he never replied after that. On that note, I let it go. I wasn't about to go chasing after someone who wasnt interested. So two weeks went by. And then out of the blue. got a text from him. He wanted to meet up and when I asked him directly why he didnt contact me, he said he would explain in private, so he came over. Long story short, he said he used to be in love with his best friend who he had kissed before but it never went anywhere, and that then he met me a few weeks ago but he was still in the motions over this girl and was a little bit freaked. he said she is with someone and he doesnt feel that way now, and that he was just a little freaked.

so I dont know what to go on really. I mean why tell me all this and want to meet up at 2am to tell me this on a saturday night. Should I run away, or should I be insulted that he ignored me for this long, or should I even believe this story. Sorry about all the questions, Im just a little confused right now. I do like him, but I dont know what to go on really.

Ah no. If you want to explain to someone why you blanked them you meet them at 2 pm to explain, not 2 am. He wanted a booty call. Sounds like he only wants sex and is willing to play games to get it.

Booty call - throw in an "I'm so vulnerable right now" story to make you go "aww" and let him into your bed. Tell him next time he fails to pull on a night out to ring for a hooker and leave you alone!

So he was keeping you as a back up to this girl but now is over her? Or more like, she is over him anyways, and you can get a look in now. Lucky, lucky you

Sounds like a dramatic head melter you're better off distancing yourself from OP tbh.

..... And that was grand, Im very easy going at the moment as Im only recently out of a messy relationship, so I dont like jumping head first............................Im just a little confused right now. I do like him, but I dont know what to go on really.

Long story short......read between your OWN lines here. You're vulnerable, whether you know it or not. Be careful and mind yourself. This man does not need minding, more than you do. Don't be mammy, be yourself - fun is good but some fun has less baggage hon.

OP here, thanks guys for all the advice. I completely agree, the time in question was riddiculous. Now the only thing Il say is, he didnt text me at 2am, he was travelling from another city, at least 4 hours away and he was getting in at half one that night. so he text me at half ten. I was out at the time so he went home and I met him later. Yeah I dont know, now maybe Im over-reacting, but after we parted ways today, Ive heard nothing, but he's bn online a lot. am I over-reacting. I know I probably am, its only because I dont want to look foolish at the end of this. I gave the guy a chance to explain, I havent been intimate with him in the sense that we havent slept together, so I dont feel I have compromised myself, but I dont want to look a fool at the end of it.

OP, you were a booty call. Why else would he contact you at 2am? Keep your distance.

Definitetly agree with the majority on this one.. Only reason the guy wanted to call over that night was to get into your bed.

The story sounds quite fantastical and he wanted to pull on your heart strings a little.

I would advise you so steer well clear.
