First Time Buying Car- Advice

    Hi all,

    I am looking at buying my first ever car. Cars I have driven in the past I have inherited or were loans, but I have never had to actually go an research and buy my own.

    I have started a new job and I will be travelling roughly 80km a day. I am currently using a car that was loaned to me, but I have a little bit of cash and want to buy a good, well built car.

    So here are my questions-

    Is is safer to buy from dealers/garages than private sales?
    How do I arrange an independent mechanic to look at it and how much would one cost?
