I handed in all the forms on the 16th of August for Job Seekers Allowance. What's the story with this? That's six weeks, should I have been told by now that they are considering or have rejected my application?

Best thing you can do is call into your local office and see what is happening with your claim. In the meantime while you are waiting for your claim to be processed you can go to your community welfare officer and apply for supplementary welfare allowance.

You get a letter when you are approved - if you need money in the meantime goto the local community welfare officer

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

I went in and they said that it was still being processed. He said for me to go back another day and ask at a hatch. I'm not sure what more they could tell me but I'm doing it tomorrow.

I went in today and was sent to hatch 10, decisions. He asked for my PPS number and said it's pending and that was it, wouldn't give any more info. I asked how long more and the reply was "you'll hear from us either way"

If you need money immediately go to the community welfare officer and apply for supplementary welfare allowance
