Clongriffin to South County Business Park - most efficient way?

I've been offered a new job in Microsoft in the South County Business Park, but I'm trying to find the most efficient way of getting there from Clongriffin (North in terms of time and money. The simplest way is to use the car, but that's the most expensive option by a wide margin.

Obviously I don't really want a very long journey time compared to the car, but sacrifices obviously need to be made to save money. I've checked out the Dart/Luas combination, but there's a 20 min walk between Dart and Luas connections in the city, which I've done before can can be a pain when it's raining or I'm in a hurry.

    Any ideas?

Train and then 114 from Blackrock station leaves you about a 5 min walk to the Business Park.

Bus isn't the most frequent though which may present problems. http://www.dublinbus.ie/en/Your-Journey1/Timetables/All-Timetables/1141/

Another option to the Dart and 114 is to take the bus and Luas.

Take the 15 from Clongriffin to Harcourt Luas stop and switch to the green line. Both services are frequent, and using a combined Bus/Luas tax saver ticket will make your transport costs even cheaper.

Depending on connections, the journey time each way is about 80 minutes.

If it was me, it'd be dart->Pearse->Walk trinity ->walk Grafton-> Luas, but I think KD345 has the best answer

DART to Blackrock and 114 - just check the bus times so that you get a connecting train.

114 drops you to beside the entrance to the business park.

Put your exact locations and relevant dates and times into www.a-b.ie and tweak the settings.

DART + 114 can be as quick as 70 minutes at peak time.

I'd be very cautious on relying on the 114 for any sort of daily commute, extremely infrequent bus and is often 15-20 minutes behind schedule while on some occasions it just doesn't turn up at all, I'd go for the bus/Luas combo personally.

Thanks for the suggestions, the 114 doesn't seem like a reliable option. How about the 15 to town and the 11 to Sandyford? They both connect at Nassau Street and seem fairly frequent - too good to be true?

The 11 takes very windy route to get to Sandyford, I wouldn't take it personally. It's also a lot less frequent than the Luas. 15 and Luas, changing at Harcourt is definitely your best bet.

Is this observation based on recent experience or historic? Bear in mind that the 114 schedule was recast a couple of years ago. Suggesting buses simply don't turn up on a regular basis is perhaps pushing things.

OP - check the timetable out and compare it with the DART timetable.

    Use www.a-b.ie

The NTA journey planner continues to disappoint - in the is case (Clongriffin - Leopardstown Road) it doesn't suggest any journeys using the Dart or 114, merely going with a 15/Luas combination.

Also a frustrating weakness, when searching for a road named after an area (Rathgar Road, Drimnagh Road etc) the search returns all roads in that named area, i.e:
    Rathgar, Orwell Road
    Rathgar, Rathmines Road Upper
    Rathgar, Brighton Road
etc.. through almost every road in Rathgar
    until eventually listing Rathgar Road..

It comes up for me, when I use Clongriffen Train station and, having entered Leopardstown Road, select "Foxrock, Racecourse (on Leopardstown Road)" which is the name of the nearest Dublin Bus stop on Leopardstown Road.

The return direction can be found using "Galloping Green, Racecourse (on Leopardstown Road)" as the departure point, once you type in Leopardstown Road.

The problem is that until we have postcodes, using these journey planners is tricky, as they are using stop descriptions in many cases, and need precise addresses.

I used Clongriffin (with the house icon - taking this as being 'Clongriffin' the suburb)
I used the name of the road as I don't know which stop is most suitable.
Dart inclusive options are given if I choose a departure/arrival time for today. For tomorrow (national journey planner!), no Dart inclusive options are given.

Indeed post codes will help, however given that Google recently sorted out area names in Google maps, its a shame that the NTA can't sort this.

There is no location of "Leopardstown Road" listed without some other description, which are you selecting?

In Clongriffin, the further away from the train station you select, the longer the walking time to the station and the more likely that the bus+tram will be quicker.

In "my journey preferences", make sure that train is an option and select "take neighbouring stops into account for origin and destination maximum ... min walk"

    It is sorted alphabetically.

I was using Leopardstown Road, Sandyford. Interestingly today it seems to be offering Luas journeys for all dates I select, this was not the case when I tested previously.
In both cases I made the searches from private browsing windows so used the default settings on the NTA site.

    No it is not.

I tested in Chrome, perhaps you're using another browser which is performing differently?
