At 5 1/2 I'd say he'd be OK with the 3DS unless he would be quick to break things.

The 2DS is a simplified version of the 3DS. It has no 3D effect but would be very durable.

Howver, if you really want the 3DS then there are a few good deals around (just checked a few there)

Personally speaking, the last one listed is good value. It's a nice big console (90% larger than the 3DS) with a great game.

I think we will go with the 3ds. The XL is a bit above our budget.
I am looking in Argos/ smyths/ gamestop/ ebay.
I didnt think of looking at amazon. Are there any other places i could look?

www.game.co.uk is also an option, but I honestly don't think you will find a 3DS cheaper than the Amazon.co.uk one linked above. You will have it in about 5 days.

As far as I know, the 2DS will be retailing at 135 euro.

I think smyths have them for 179 at the moment.
the 136stg in uk excludes postage. So smyths probably have the better deal.

Folks, for all those seeking a 3ds Xl bargain, I got one in PC world today in Liffey Valley for €169.

They had 2-3 left on the shelf, red or grey for €169.The blue ones were €199 though.
