    Hey lads,

Had a Lenovo Z570 Blue screen last week, so I popped in a new drive and re installed 7 on it, that went fine.

Unfortunately I dont have the drivers and utilities disk for the machine, i'm not even sure if it came with one, so I've been using the web to look for drivers for it. I got one for the ethernet and transferred it over by a memory stick, I've tried all the drivers on the lenovo site to get the wifi but it just wont work!

At my wits end here, can someone please help?

Installing WiFi on a laptop if you don't know the exact model can be a black art. Maybe check the model number on the card itself if you can see it.

Checked that too, it's some generic card I believe, popped the part number into google and it just gives me back links to the generic card on ebay

    Fixed,

"After many trials with various settings in BIOS I figured out that the missing wireless problem could be solved by changing the boot priority of Windows Boot Manager. It should be BELOW ATA HDD. When you change the priority and boot into Windows the wireless adapter is working. Change it back and it stops working.

Windows Boot Manager option only appears after installing Windows and is set with priority 1 by default.

I don't know why this is connected to the wireless problem but the fact is that now there is a solution.

EDIT: It appears that the first boot device should be ATAPI CD. Here is the full boot priority order in my BIOS:
    ATAPI CD
    USB FDD
    USB CD
    ATA HDD
    Windows Boot Manager
    USB HDD
    PCI LAN

Now only one and the biggest one problem remains - ability to shutdown and reboot..."

Well done. No idea how you discovered that. Maybe theres a updated bios that fixes that.

    Correct,

    "Fixes and enhancements

Latest Version BIOS fixed all merged issues from previous ones.

    Change history

    44CN38WW:

1 Solved BIOS failed to save boot order issue

2 Solved Intel WLAN failed to work only when CD was selected as the first boot order."
