Any ideas of an interesting debatable page turner for my final year social care dissertation anyone? I am interested in an area of mental health but dunno where to go with it... cheers if anyone has ideas...?

You could do a comparitive analysis on social care in ireland and how it compares to other countries, maybe pick uk or Australia or Canada and look at where ireland sits in terms of how forward thinking we are in terms of policy, are we enabling people as opposed to disabling them? Quality of life for people accessing social care services in ireland compared to these countries?

How about controversies surrounding different approaches to treatment based on your post code?

Example:
1) I'm on the border of two areas for mental health centres. I was referred to A and they sent me to B. The team at B were ok. They referred me for therapy but not the therapy I required. Had I been seen by A, they could have referred me to a different clinic for the therapy I required.

2) I was told by my therapist I should link in with the team of social/outreach workers with B. But B don't cover outreach work for my disorder. A do though.

So because of post codes I was not given the correct treatment.

For what it's worth: Compare HSE care with other models of care (charity, private, etc.?). I've seen where HSE home helps often have a list of things they can't do, for insurance reasons and the like, which is frustrating.
