Hopefully someone can answer this for me :)

I need to return something to amazon uk, could someone explain the prepaid option? Does that mean I just print out the necessary forms etc, stick em on the box and then drop them to the post office and there is no charge? Then the delivery cost is deducted when the refund is processed?

Or do I pay for shipping with the prepaid labels on it? (The prepaid part confuzzles me lol)

You print off the labels which should have a freepost address so no postage is due. You stick the address label to the package and place another label inside the package and there should also be another small proof of postage form which you should get stamped at the post office.

Depending on the return reason you might have the return postage costs deducted from your refund,

For example if you are returning the item due to a change of mind, they can deduct the return postage
However if you are returning the item because its defective then they won't.

With prepaid postage labels you don't pay anything, unless you want to send it registered or something like that.

Ok great! I assume I must let the person in the post office that it is prepaid so they dont charge? or will they know?

They'll know. I've sent a few things back to Amazon (even Amazon.de) and it all goes perfectly fine.

I have returned so many items. Just contact them using chat and they refund the amount before receiving the item back. Never charged anything. May be because I am a old costumer.

Customer age has nothing to do with it, any charge for returning the item is outlined in the return policy.

But again depends on the reason for the return

I need to return a jacket to Amazon as they didn't send the size I ordered.
I used the NI Parcel Motel Address... possibly was a bad idea.
When I go the Returns Support Centre I get three options for return delivery method:
    1. Drop Off - bring it to Collect+ location. This is a UK only service, the closest to me is Newry Co. Down.
    2. Collection - schedule a pre-paid Yodel collection from your home - again a UK only thing.
    3. Self Return - use any mailing service. Amazon will reimburse up to £3.49. It's 1.5kg, so via An Post will cost €24!

So looks like I'll have to fork out €20 to fix Amazon's mistake! On top of €3.50 for another PM delivery.
Question: if I'd used an Irish address originally would they refund something closer to the full postage amount?

Explain situation to Amazon support via email or chat. They'll give you a Irish return label for free return.

Thanks Vuzuggu. I did that and after some confusion about what a Parcel Motel is they gave me the label. The package will go to a crowd called Johnston Logistics in Rathcoole, Co. Dublin and I guess they'll send it on to Amazon in the UK or wherever it was sent from originally.

Lesson here might be that you should use Parcel Motel's Dublin address when it's "Super Saver Delivery" and postage is free for Ireland as well as the UK.

Posted a parcel back to Amazon UK yesterday. Printed off prepaid address label to Irish address, scanned at local post office yesterday, got tracking number, email at 11am this morning to say refund being processed. Nice one amazon!

Are Amazon return labels good for sending parcel from Ireland to UK for free?

I was at the post office today in Blanchardstown today with my Amazon return labels and I was charged 7.50 for sending the parcel back to amazon

The returns labels are freepost labels and you should have stuck them onto the package, then you should not be charged to return items which are being returned because they are faulty or not as described or fit for purpose etc.

If you are returning any item for change of mind reasons then it is your responsibility to pay for the return postage

Then my girlfriend was overcharged by the Post office in Blanch. My item was faulty and I got the returns labels and refund by amazon

The post office staff just have to scan the address label stuck on the package and it prints off the proof of purchase for you.

Your Girlfriend will have to take it up with the post office, I suggest a chat with the local post master/mistress if the staff are unable to sort it out.

I contacted Anpost customer service and they told me the barcode of my free post is only for returns within UK
I emailed Amazon and they gave me the refund for the post. Happy days

An post are telling porkys! The labels are prepaid within Ireland as all returns get sent to a section of Johnstone logistics on the naas road, here they are scanned and the details of the return are marked as received on Amazon's system.

Nothing is deducted and you should get full refund. I generally talk with them on chat and ask for refund even before item is received by them.

They process my refund in 2-3 days.

Use the share label link on the label page and send the return label by email to somebody that can print the label for you,

Sorry for hijacking, but I was wondering could anyone help me with this, is there anyway I could find out delivery costs before I return an item, I've purchased an item on Amazon and I'm waiting for it to be delivered, but the same item in a different colour ( colour I wanted originally but was 20 sterling more expensive at time of ordering) is now available, so I was thinking of buying this one and returning original order, but obviously if I'm going to have to pay return costs it may not be worth it.

OK thread is old, but for future reference - just refuse delivery at the door from An Post.
