Horizon Meter HD-STM

I have one of these meters. Works well, happy enough with its performance. However, is says S2 on the home screen menu, which would suggest the meter would be capable of measuring Saorsat signal. There is even a Saorsat TP in the satellite list. I have tried to measure Saorsat, but gets no signal. (dish already aligned in Saorsat using regualr LNB)

I have contacted Horizon who told me that the meter cannot read Saorsat signal. I don't get it, if an FTA receiver can see the Saorsat signal, surely the meter would see the signal also?

I remember somewhere I think I read where a new TP could be set up to "fool" the meter into thinking the Saorsat signal was within its range.

    Any help would be great.

Put a normal lnb on and align to 9degrees east and then swap lnb afterwards all Ive ever done with my Horizon meter and worked perfectly.

TP scan parameters are 10765MHz, SR 25000, Vertical, FEC 1/2, DVB-S2 QPSK

That's grand and I've done it too. Bit of a pain in the ass swapping around the LNBs. No good for fault finding afterwards, especially if diseqc used.

Like I said, there is a TP for Saorsat in the satellite list on this meter. But Horizon have told me that it will not pick up Saorsat signal. This link refers to adjusting, or using the actual frequency, which I have also tried with no luck.

Horizon are probably just referring to the fact that it doesn't have a 21.2 gHz LO setting, for the Inverto lnb. Closest, according to the manual is 21 gHz.

You would think looking at the screen here, that this meter works with S2, this article also suggests the same thing. I cant get any reading using it on a dish with a KA lnb aligned on Saorsat.

Of course it works with DVB-S2.

What are the settings used for the Saorsat tp stored in the meter?

I will check the settings I the morning. I asked before I bought it if it would work for S2 and I was told it would.

I had a look at the Saorsat TP pre programmed on the meter. Frequency 20,185 V. Same number your man here is on about. But I tried that before and it didn't work.

You can't use the actual Saorsat frequency, since the meter doesn't have a LO setting that matches the lnbs used for Saorsat.

This is set up as a custom tp?

The Saorsat lnb will be outputting a signal centred on 1015 mHz & you have to get the meter to tune into that with the right combination of carrier & LO freq. settings. One such frequency is already mentioned in post #3: this would be used with the 9.75 gHz LO.

Other settings should work, such as: Carrier frequency 19985 mHz, LO 21 gHz, lnb supply 13 volts, along with the other relevant signal parameters.

    I'll try those settings, thanks.
