My wife has recently changed jobs, and has started bo get taxed under code W.

A quick look on revenue, explains that she's being taxed on a week 1 basis, and fron what we can understand, this is quite similar, though not just as severe as emergency tax.

Revenue just needed a few details from her regarding her previous employment etc, which has now been rectified.

What has us worried though, is this that it is described as 'non refundable' on revenues webpage?
    No refunds are made.

Is this right? She reckons shes down 300 euro take home salary since about March due to this?

    She wont get a rebate???

Once she gets things sorted and back on a normal basis, then if any refund is due, it will be sorted by her own payroll.

Just out of interest, why does it state no refunds on the website anyone?

Because no refunds can be made while the week one is in effect. Refunds can only be made when you are on the normal cumulative basis.

    This is seriously annoying now.

Revenue are telling us no refunds, and she will remain on week 1 basis for the remainder of the year. I.e she will get refunded (if applicable) and remain on a week 1 basis until the end of this tax year.

Even though the correct info has been submitted.

Did they give a reason for staying on week one?

Hi I work for thesaurus and sometimes once it goes past a certain time in the tax year the P2C certs are issued on a week 1 basis. It would also depend on whether you are working or not and if you are using some of the tax credits and cut off points. Unfortunately for you what it means is that you will have to wait until the end of this tax year and your wife will have to send her P60 (which she should receive from her current employer) to the tax office (along with your P60 if you are in employement) and they will look at both of your earnings year to date and if she is due a tax refund a cheque or credit transfer will be made to your wife at that stage.
