Repeat Process

Hey guys I failed 2 modules last year and need to repeat them this year.
I qualified last year for the fees portion of the grant as a mature student.
I am confused as to whether I still qualify for fees when I am repeat.
There is also a module that I scraped a pass in that I would like to repeat. I am not sure if I can handpick which modules to repeat. Is it case of only repeating the ones I have failed or the whole year. Can I opt to repeat some that I have already passed. Some people I have mentioned it think I would be crazy to repeat something I have already passed. My feeling is if I am to repeat I ought to have as many good grades to show for it as possible.

You can't get the grant and as fr as I know cannot repeat something you passed.

I think you can only register from tomorrow onwards?

Why would I not get the fees portion of the grant. Don't they allow you 5 years to complete an honours degree.

Because you are repeating a year.

Its not too expensive, 55 per credit plus a 272 fee, so it will prob cost you approx 800 altogether

Wow still. I moved from €188 btea to €101.20 jobseeker over the summer. Another €800 is pretty colossal. No idea if I will return to €188 payment. :(

I know, I was bricking it that I'd have to pay the 2280 or whatever the govt fee is on top of that so it was a tremendous relief to see that it was "only" 800 odd... but you are right it is a hefty sum I have to borrow it myself.

BTW you can now register through your portal page.

Gov't will only pay for you to sit each year once. They'll pay for a longer course I think, but only once you don't repeat.

If its any help when I went to pay today (I have to repeat 2 modules of 5 creds) it said the minimum amount I had to pay was 400 and something... I paid the whole thing in one go but maybe you can pay it in two installments? If you are really struggling talk to the SU who might be able to advise you
