I know it's a long shot but my father in law has passed away from cancer and i realise now he could have claimed disability benefit. He was unable to work for the past two years and was eventually confined to a wheelchair. Just wondering if you can make a claim retrospectively on behalf of the deceased?

    I very much doubt that.

    on behalf of the deceased?

But the deceased has no need of the payment now.

No. The claim dies with the deceased. Its very much a personal thing. Maybe any costs he incurred while ill (like the wheelchair etc.) or even the funeral expenses might be retroactive ? And that would be to whoever footed the bills for those costs.
