Sick Benefit - Are Chronic Migraines covered?

    Hi,

Question: Can you claim sick benefit/disability benefit and work as a sole trader on the side? (Example lets say I get one client but for 5 weeks I don't have a client (feel well enough to work) . might I be able to claim something for that period I didn't get work?) My migraines make it extremely difficult to function most days. I work from home creating software in my own time.

    Background Story:
I worked for a company in Dublin for 2 years, the last 1 year working there was hellish, because I developed chronic migraine, my head would be burning constant somedays, I was missing a huge amount of time, and whats worse I felt so bad about missing days I'd sit and struggle my way through other days.

I have migraine every single day, some days are alot worse than others.

I decided when I got promoted with them to leave and work for myself as I couldnt take it anymore, my job was so deadline heavy I felt pressure to come in when I was having terrible migraines.

I manage a lot better now but I'm just not making enough money at all, I got upset today and thought will i ever be able to work again.

I see a neurologist and a GP regularly.
