Does anyone here know if there is a private bus service from Maynooth to Citywest or at least a nearby connecting Luas stop?

I know I can get the bus to Heuston and the Luas out but that's a bit of a hike

    Thanks.

No private bus. Only realistic alternative to that route is:

66 to Liffey Valley (N4), 76 from Liffey Valley SC (other side of SC), and LUAS from Belgard.

If walking long distance is an issue, you could stay on the 66 as far as the West County hotel in Chapelizod. IIRC either the 76 serves the same stop beginning its journey, or you have to walk 3 minutes around the corner to under the dual carriageway overpass. Either way is easier than slogging across Liffey Valley!

There are no buses from Maynooth to anywhere in the Greater Dublin Area apart from the city centre and airport. Like all the towns in North Kildare there are no radial or local services.

Your own suggestion of 66+Luas is probably the simplest.

Note the 66x will get you to Heuston much quicker.

Put your exact locations and relevant dates and times into www.a-b.ie and tweak the settings.

If doing it every day, look at getting a bus+Luas or bus+Luas+train ticket using www.taxsaver.ie

or 77A from the Square after the 76 to keep the ticket to one operator. 69 from Clondalkin too

20 kms on a bike is well doable

Even more doable in a car, and traffic is usually not too bad.
