W8 DVD Rewriter problem

    so months ago i bought a windows 7 laptop and did a fresh install to windows 8. i only today needed to use my cd drive. i wanted to put songs onto a cd and i went to windows media player to do the burning and it says on the right "connect a burner and restart the player". it HAS a burner. i tried for answers on google and some didnt work and others were just too complicated for me to understand. any help? laptop is a Lenovo z580

    Easiest option is to use other burning software - personally I like CDBurnerXP, but there are various options.
